Hello Blogland!! How is everyone’s weekend going?? It’s still ridiculously cold here and now they are calling for freezing rain tonite. Super!!

I’ve cleared out the hall bath of all the stuff so the redecorating is underway!! First coat of white paint is drying on all the wood stuff and mirror frame. I plan on having the big reveal next weekend!

Went into town yesterday and stopped by my favorite thrifts. Clothes were a famine but I did manage to pick up a few goodies. Not a bad haul for $6!!

And now to the star of the post. It has been wretchedly freezing cold here the last week. Poor MrBill would shiver so hard he could barely lift his leg to pee. I finally pulled out his sweater and made him wear it. After a couple of hours he realized he COULD walk in it!!! He has been wearing it almost non-stop since. Mama is gonna have to go shopping for some more!!!!

I kept teling him what a handsome boy he is in his sweater!!

Hello Blogland!!! Sorry for not posting last night but i got in late and got distracted by Keith Urban on American Idol!!!  It’s still unbelievably COLD here and we’re expecting a bit of snow again tonite. And the it will be close to 60 degrees next week!! NUTS!!

Being cooped up inside in the winter allows me to look around the house and get IDEAS for home improvement projects. The four words that put fear in the hubster’s heart are “I’ve got an idea!” LOL  I’m reasonably handy so most projects involve me doing the work.  About four years ago I undertook the task of painting our boring builder white walls with some color. It took me two years to do (2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, hall, living & dining rooms with cathedral ceilings) but I got it done. I also said “NEVER AGAIN!!!”

The hall bathroom retained the decor from when it had white walls. It’s a somewhat country-ish primitive look.  I’ve been moving past that look the last few years and it’s probably the only pure hold-out in that style. Thankfully I have a dear friend who LOVES that style who’ll gladly take anything I want to pass on!

I got this gorgeous colorful vintage sheet recently that goes PERFECTLY with the apple green on the walls. (the color is more vibrant than the pix show) I draped it over the existing shower curtain and went WOW.  I’ve decided to redo the room in brighter colors and a more eclectic “theme”. Gonna paint all the black stuff white and pack up anything that is too primitive in style. Here’s a sneak peek of the inspiration sheet:

I actually love having projects like this–keeps the creative juices flowing!!!  The cold weather has caused me to dress in multiple layers so i feel like I’m stuffed!! Here’s Wednesday’s outfit. I’m wearing tights, leggings and socks under all this!!

Hello Blogland from FREEZING Western Maryland!!!! It didn’t get above 15 degrees here today. Unbelievable when a week ago it was close to 70!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for your kind comments and encouragement on Sunday’s rude people post.  I do, however, want to be sure no one gets the impression I’m some self-righteous halo wearing prig. FAR from it!!

I have a very snarky, sarcastic sense of humor and am quick with a comeback. My big mouth has gotten me in trouble more than once in my younger days. I always say if people could read my thoughts I’d be in DEEP doo-doo!! I THINK it but keep my mouth SHUT!!!

I really try to abide by some wisdom my great-grandmother Annie (click on her name to read more about her) gave me. Her life motto was the Serenity prayer.  “God grant me the serenity to accept those things I can not change, The courage to change those I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

I jokingly like to add ” and enough time to dispose of the bodies”. It’s simple but oh so true.  She also loved an old poem called “I shall never pass this way again.”  She always said we have but one moment to make an impression , to make a difference, to change someone’s life and we need to never let it pass us by. Remarkable lady and she lived her creed. She used to tell me to treat others as I would like to be treated.  She’s been gone 19 years almost and I miss her every day. I often think in a situation..what would Annie do?? She was the epitome of someone who followed Jesus and his teachings–it was her actions not her words that showed it.

Enough philosophy and such!!! This was my worktable in The Craft Palace–cleaned up a bit—this weekend! Got LOADS of creativity accomplished!!

Frida-fying the world!!!

Frida-fying the world!!!

I dressed warmly since it was colder than a witches tit out today. I’m wearing the stunning scarf the always fabulous Helga sent me. I find I wear this combo of raspberry and brown a lot. The plaid of the pants has a thin wine colored stripe in it so wines/reds/dark pinks look good with them.

All of it is thrifted or gifted!

Hello Blogland!!! Happy Sunday!!! Has everyone been having a wonderful weekend??? I’ve gotten loads of sewing/alterations done and some “art”!!!

I’ve been asked to make a fancy basket for birthday cards so I decided to stop by the Goodwill after church to see if I could Find a basket. I plan on painting it aqua and glueing roses around the edge.

Couldn’t find a basket so I thought…since I’m already here…..I might as well look at clothes. I’ve not been thrifting in several weeks so I’ve got withdrawal!!

Anyhow, I was coming down an aisle of sweater when I encountered this lady with her cart blocking the aisle. There’s plenty of room for two carts to pass if you keep yours to the side. I waited a bit and then politely (my mama raised me right-LOL) said “Excuse me…could I pass by?”

The lady turned and looked at me and said ” You don’t need to come down this aisle. There’s nothing here that would fit you.” She then turned her head and ignored me.

WHOA!!!!! I just shook my head and said as sweetly as possible “I’m sorry for disturbing you, M’am. Have a blessed day” and walked back down the aisle.  I caught the eye of an older lady an aisle over who had evidently heard the whole repartee. She just shook her head in disbelief.

I’m old enough, hopefully mature enough, and secure enough to let her hateful words slide off my back. I may be “fluffy” but she’s RUDE and I can fix the fluffy!!  A hateful rude person is far uglier than a fat one–because their ugly comes from within!!

But what impact could it have made on some young teenage girl with body image issues?? It could’ve cut someone to the core with the slip of the tongue. You never know…and kindness matter’s. Sometimes the nice words you say, the compliment you give to the checker at the Walmart, may be the only kind words they’ll hear that day.  Challenge yourself to spread a bit of kindness to strangers this week.  We’d all be better off if people were more considerate of others.

The trip wasn’t a total wash. I spent a bit over $12 and came home with some awesome goodies!

J.Jill mushroom coloredmesh maxi skirt. It has an interesting appliqued ribbon detailing on the bottom. It's too big but easily altered.

Hello Blogland!!! TGIF!!!! What a long weird week it’s been!!! I’m glad I’ve got a 3 day weekend ahead!!!  I’ve got some crafting, creating and sewing to do!! What are y’all planning on doing??

I’m sure you are all on the edge of your seat wondering what a SnotMaster 2000 is. It’s my name for the hubster’s latest gadget!!

Lauren has sinus issues (2 surgeries so far). He still has a stuffy nose not caused by allergies (I’m thinking FOOD might be some of the problems) He was using a Neti pot to try to keep it clear. (click the link to find out all you never wanted to know about one!)

Lauren, being a guy and a geek, LOVES gadgets-especially if they are POWER gadgets!! He decided to upgrade to what is evidently a POWER snot cleaner.

Behold the SnotMaster 2000:

It’s the grossest thing EVER!!!! He hacks and horks and spits and it just turns my stomach! Seriously–I can’t be in the bedroom when he’s in the Master Bath using it. And he pulsatingly washes his nasal cavities TWICe a day. It’s really fabulous at 5:30am!!!

Yesterday’s outfit was pretty basic. It was one of those mornings where what I put out didn’t work like I planned. I was going to wear another skirt-but the elastic in the waist needs tightening (not a bad thing!) Skirt was thrifted last year–it’s LaneBryant and still had the $59 tags on it!!
